Adapted Story Showcase

Overview

The Adapted Story Showcase recognizes scripts, novelizations, & stage plays in any genre that feature an adapted story. The showcase is designed to support new(ish) and aspiring writers by awarding a cash prize to help sustain, or kickstart, a writing career. An adapted story is a story based on previously written material, such as: * A script based on a previously written book, a short story, a magazine article, a video game, or a stage play. * A stage play based on a previously written book or a movie script. * A book based on a previously written script (this type of book is known as a "novelization"). Entries require the submission of the adapted material (not the previously written source material). == SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS == SCREENPLAYS *Feature film screenplays - up to 165 pages *Television scripts - up to 90 pages *Short scripts - up to 25 pages *Stories in any genre *Produced or unproduced BOOKS, MANUSCRIPTS & SHORT STORIES *Fiction or narrative nonfiction *Any length *Stories in any genre *Published or unpublished STAGE PLAYS *Any length *Stories in any genre *Produced or unproduced TITLE PAGE IS REQUIRED Must include: *Title *Name(s) of writer(s) *Title & name of writer(s) of the source material. ***PLEASE NOTE*** -- The Adapted Story Showcase is not a film festival - it is a writing showcase and is conducted exclusively online. There is no in-person event. There is only one round of judging, and only one winner is selected each year.

  Thank you so much for choosing 40 Shades of Green: The Junkman of Brooklyn as an Official Selection! Based on my novel, it is an immigrant saga of the weight of family legacy in early New York. I too appreciated the the posting of the winners on Ink & Cinema, so nicely done. The communication and notifications from the Festival staff were the best I've experienced.   Hello, I am very grateful to have participated in the Adapted Story Showcase, and I sincerely thank you for giving me the opportunity to present my work. Few festivals and competitions provide a dedicated space for adapted screenplays, so it was a particularly valuable opportunity to submit If You Love Me. That said, I had understood that some feedback or additional information about the selected projects would be provided around August 15, 2026. Unfortunately, I did not receive any, and I would also have appreciated some opportunity to connect or network with other participants or industry professionals — especially since If You Love Me was selected for the Showcase. Overall, I am very pleased to have been part of the selection, but I feel that these additional elements would make the experience even more valuable for screenwriters in the future.
