Der Filmschnitt gibt den Takt vor, diktiert die Ordnung der Bilder und das Timing der Geschichte. Es heißt, ein guter Schnitt müsse unsichtbar bleiben. Das ist Ansichtssache. Keineswegs unsichtbar bleiben sollen jedoch seine Macher*innen und die Regeln ihrer Kunst. Edimotion, das Kölner Festival für Filmschnitt und Montagekunst, gibt dem Filmschnitt ein Gesicht und zeigt seine Gesichter. Seit 2001 bietet es Editor*innen eine Plattform für Präsentation und Diskussion und honoriert herausragende Montagearbeiten.
