FESPACO (Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou) is the premier biennial event for African cinema, held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and recognized internationally as the main gathering for African filmmakers and their diaspora. It showcases exclusively films by African creators produced chiefly in Africa across categories including fiction, documentaries, animation, and television series, with the top prize being the prestigious Étalon de Yennenga (Golden Stallion of Yennenga). As one of the few remaining state-run film festivals globally and Africa's largest cultural event, FESPACO has never been canceled despite political strife, serving as a vital platform for professional exchange, market development, and the promotion of African cinema as a tool for expression and education.

Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
