Born as a limelight for young independent directors, it quickly established itself as an international festival, counting among its guests and jurors great personalities from the world of academicism and film criticism, as well as renowned actors, dubbers and producers. Every year hundreds of directors from all over the world have submitted their works to be selected and run for the three categories of “Fiction”, “Animation” and “Documentary”, and thus compete for the Jury Prize (with cash prize) and for the Audience Award. Throughout its tenth editions, Florence Short Film Festival has received the patronage of the most important local institutions (the Municipality of the City of Florence and the Tuscany Region) and, more importantly, has been able to intercept a large transversal audience that has voted its loyalty to the festival every year: the audience of FSFF numbers hundreds of people and embraces both the university student who wants to live the cultural life of the city, and to the cinephile who wants to discover the directors of tomorrow, thanks to the varied proposal that the festival can offer. Since the 8th edition Florence Short Film Festival is proud to offer masterclasses by guests of the caliber of Alessandro Roia, Giovanni Veronesi, Gianfranco Pannone and Alessandro Rak, demonstrating that teaching is a fundamental point for training the new directors of tomorrow and that the dissemination of cinematographic knowledge is at the basis of the intentions of the festival. The 12th edition of the Florence Short Film Festival (4th, 5th and 6th of February 2027 - Cinema La Compagnia, Firenze) aims to bring the event to a further level by strengthening the internationality of the proposal, consolidating and expanding the public and involving famous personalities of Italian and international cinema. Communications with the Festival was great even though I couldn’t be at the festival. The line up of films wasof the highest quality. I felt honored to be a finalist at this prestigious festival.
It is a charming film festival and I love it very much!!
I was lucky enough to be able to attend in person this year and was truly blown away by the hospitality of the festival team, the passionate audience, the beautiful theater, the outstanding quality of every single film in the program, and just how much love and care went into making this live edition a safe and memorable one.
It was a great time in Florence. Good Festival, with nice vintage venue, showing a strong list of documentary section films, where we presented our project as well and where we were lucky to receive the 'Fabrizio Borghini' Special Prize Award. Also, it was an amazing time, having a deep conversations with festival jury and founders. Thank you FSFF team. Hope to see you again!)
Thank you for the Florence Short Film Festival. The process was well organized and professionally run—smooth, clear, and well managed.
FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
