One of the friendliest festivals I've been to. Everyone from the hosts to the other filmmakers was incredibly welcoming. I flew from the UK to attend so it made my trip that much more worth it. Great selection of films and even some tasty food and drink.

Screening CAHILL’s LANES at Golden Door was a joy. It was well organized, great communication, and a kind and connective community of filmmakers. We were thrilled and honored that our lead brought home the best actress award. Will definitely submit in the future!

It was an absolute honor to screen RUN WILD and MANDY’S VOICE at GDIFF <3 Thank you for your belief and support in these stories; it means the world to us! It is with much gratitude to Bill and Michelle, Christian, Kerry, Bryce, Wendy, Amy and Nate along with all of the volunteers who made it happen behind the scenes – an absolutely phenomenal event! From the thoughtful and clear communication throughout, the fun red carpet party, and to the heart of the festival - meaningful, fabulous films curated beautifully from all over the world! Looking forward to submitting again.

I screened my short film at this year's festival and want to share an honest account for other filmmakers considering submitting. The opening night gala, which I expected to be a festival-wide showcase, turned out to be primarily a screening of films made by the festival organizers and their friends. Unfortunately, the work itself didn't reflect well on the festival — it set a disappointing tone for the rest of the event. Scheduling was a frustration for me personally. I met some filmmakers I really connected with during the festival, but our screening blocks overlapped by an hour, so I never got to see their work and they never got to see mine. Technical presentation was another problem. The projection in our screening room had contrast issues — some scenes appeared too dark and others blown out — and the color balance was off. A few other filmmakers I spoke with mentioned being frustrated by the same issue. By the third night, several of the films from the opening night "friends and family" screening had been nominated for awards. Combined with everything else, it was hard to trust the selections were based on merit rather than personal connections. I did enjoy screening my film for a live audience, and I met some genuinely talented filmmakers whose work I hope to see elsewhere. But based on this experience, I can't recommend this festival to others weighing where to submit their work.

We are so grateful that Welcome to Belle View was chosen for Golden Door's 15th year. Thank yo for giving us our New Jersey premiere. The Networking and hospitality was top notch. It was a thrill to get to speak about this film at the talkback. Thank you so much for honoring us with 3 nominations for Short Film, Actress and Actor as well.
