Overview
The Goree Cinema Festival is a cultural film event founded in 2015 by Senegalese filmmaker Joseph Gaï Ramaka and held on the island of Gorée, a historic site strongly associated with Senegal's colonial and slave-trade past. It is notable for its open-air beach screenings and its emphasis on promoting African and Pan-African cinema alongside broader cultural activities such as concerts and exhibitions, giving it a distinctive place in Senegal's cultural and festival scene.[1][2][4][5][11][15]

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
