The Josiah Media Festival is URBAN-15’s annual youth-film festival! Now in our 20th year, it is one of the longest running youth film festivals in the world! - SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 31st, 2026 - This film festival is exclusively for filmmakers age 21 and younger. Filmmakers interested in submitting their work should be born on or after August 31st, 2005 unless they are entering a film made while they were 21 or younger. Filmmakers over 21 years old can also enter a film that they made when they were 21 or under going back two years (production ended no earlier than August 31, 2024). It is completely FREE to submit your short film and filmmakers can enter as many films as they choose! Films must be no longer than 20 minutes total-running-time. With cash prizes awarded to winning filmmakers, excellent international participation, and no entry fees, you have nothing to lose by entering your film! PLEASE NOTE!: Though we can accept your film(s) via FilmFreeway, we still require all filmmakers to complete and send our Entry & Release forms before we can accept your submission(s)! Any film(s) submitted without a completed entry AND release form will NOT be accepted into the competition. You can download these forms at our website, https://urban15.org/josiah-media-festival/enter or at the following link: https://urban15.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/JMF-2026-Guidelines-Entry-Forms.pdf Once you have completed these two forms, please email them to us at josiahfestival@urban15.org. The Josiah Media Festival is named after Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented filmmaker from San Antonio, Texas who passed away in 2006 as a result of osteosarcoma. Despite his short twenty years with us, Josiah expanded the lives of those around him through his brilliance, joy, and determination to create outstanding works in the midst of the physical ravages from this disease. In honor of this artist, his parents, Marcus and Nancy Neundorf, and the URBAN-15 Group created the Josiah Media Festival, an annual film festival designed to showcase outstanding works by young film, video, and media artists.

I had an amazing experience with the Josiah Media Festival. The URBAN-15 team creates a very supportive and respectful space for filmmakers. I’m truly honored to have participated.
FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
No community reviews yet. If you submitted here, your experience helps others avoid award mills.
