The Lake Charles Film Festival is an annual event founded to bring the very best of independent movies and screenplays to Calcasieu Parish (in southwest Louisiana.) It was also founded to spotlight and award the achievements of the filmmakers and writers behind these awesome projects. A full day of independent film screenings, seminars & workshops on filmmaking, acting, and screenwriting, celebrity appearances, parties, Cajun food, live music, and much more! We also have a unique award trophy called the "Scallywag" award. Does your film or screenplay have what it takes to bring home a Scallywag?

I had a fantastic time at this festival! I’m so glad I submitted my short film here. Patrick and Kendall are wonderful hosts—engaging and approachable. Their passion really shines through, and it’s clear they’ve created something special.
Really enjoyed the entire festival. Well organized and upbeat. Had the opportunity to meet a lot of really great people. It's cool to hang around folks who love film.

FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
