Overview
The Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) is a 10-day annual event in Waterville, Maine, founded in 1998, that showcases nearly 100 independent American and international films with a special focus on Maine and New England-themed productions[1][3]. Notable for its selectivity and reputation for quality, it brings world premieres and classic revivals to central Maine, offering audiences rare access to films they might not otherwise see in the state[4][6]. The festival's significance lies in its unique blend of international cinema and local flavor, highlighted by the juried Tourmaline Prizes for Maine-made films and intimate filmmaker interactions[4][9].

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
