Overview
The Mill Valley Film Festival (MVFF) is an annual, noncompetitive fall festival in Marin County, California, renowned as a 'filmmakers' festival' that showcases the best in American independent and world cinema alongside high-profile awards contenders. It is notable for launching new films into the U.S. market and generating early awards-season buzz, with a track record of premiering movies that later win the Oscar for Best Picture. The festival emphasizes diversity and gender equity through initiatives like 'Mind the Gap,' featuring films from over 50 countries across narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and children's categories.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
