Overview
The Newburyport Documentary Film Festival (NDFF), held annually in September in Newburyport, MA, is a dedicated showcase for high-caliber, thought-provoking documentary films since its founding in 2004. Notable for its intimate, walkable format along the Merrimack River and its strong emphasis on filmmaker-audience interaction through Q&As, panels, and workshops, the festival has screened over 600 films, with several gaining national acclaim. It distinguishes itself in the festival circuit by focusing exclusively on nonfiction storytelling and supporting emerging talent through its juried YES Award (Young Emerging Filmmakers Showcase), which offers a $1,000 prize to student filmmakers.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
