Pleasure Dome

Overview

Pleasure Dome welcomes submissions of experimental, time-based media work by Canadian and international artists for our 2026-2027 programming year. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM (EST) For the 2026-2027 season, we have two open calls: (1) New Toronto Works 2026 - The work must have been made in the past year (12 months) - The artist must be based in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) (2) Open Call We are continuing to revisit with curiosity what it means to present "experimental" media art and film. As an organization, we are collectively asking: whose or what kinds of work has historically been included and excluded from these categories? What might it mean to re-imagine the experimental in ways that are more expansive? Are there tropes of experimentation we might question, and new forms we might pursue? As Pleasure Dome, we are also invested in asking what it means to have pleasure or the right to pleasure, or to prioritize pleasure, during times of global difficulty and strife. All works submitted to our 2026-2027 open call will be considered by the programming committee and our curators in residence for 2-3 years after submission. Pleasure Dome's values include Radical Welcome and Connection, Encouragement and Support, Multiplicity and Diversity, Challenge and Respect. Pleasure Dome is committed to equitable programming. We prioritize showing work by artists from marginalized backgrounds that include but are not limited to artists who are BIPOC artists, 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, artists who are self-taught, low-income artists, and artists from other marginalized backgrounds, including artists with disabilities, artists who are neurodivergent, and artists who are newcomers/new immigrants or refugees. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to apply. We accept single-channel films as well as multi-channel or expanded cinema projects, installation, and performance. If the form of your project is not well suited to single-channel streaming, please include relevant links to additional materials in the project description or notes. We can accommodate 35mm, Regular / Super 8, 16mm, VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray, and Digital files. Please incorporate keywords in your synopsis. Your entry fee contributes to the critical understanding of experimental and access to experimental film and media arts, and all proceeds go directly back into Pleasure Dome.   I am amazed by the quick decisions surrounding the New Toronto Works exhibition in the wake of COVID-19. Pleasure Dome was in regular contact with us, allowing us to keep up with their strategies to continue with the exhibition date as planned. The update of their platform and the format of the event were perfect. The artist panel was very planned, and the public was engaged. I am honoured to have been part of this festival and to have been able to show work during times of isolation. This is an exceptional experience, and being part of it was beautiful.
