A BIG thanks to Ryan and Ian and the entire RRFF team. The communication and social media presence was amazing. Truly a filmmaker friendly festival! We hope to be back!
What an experience! The Red Rose Film Festival was well organized and extremely hospitable. Ryan, Ian, Scott, Doug and the whole team who makes this run are the absolute best. Plus Lancaster/Lilitz has a budding filmmaker/audience community that is great to connect with. Thanks for the Best Student Film nomination for "Nebuchadnezzar" :)
What an experience! My short film played at a few festivals on the same weekend, but Red Rose really stood out as exceptional! I arrived on the second morning to a networking breakfast where each member of the Red Rose team made it a point to introduce themselves, share what they liked about my film, and talk shop. The festival itself is unique in that some of (most of?) the screenings all happen at the Penn Cinema (on the big screen in a real movie theater, with awesome sound), where you can hang out all day, network, and pop into movies that are a few steps away. When my son is old enough, I'd love to introduce him to film festivals at Red Rose!
This was my first time attending the Red Rose Film Festival and I was really happy with the experience. Ryan and Ian are on top of communication and go the extra mile to make sure everyone knows what to expect. The opening night is a great way for local and traveling filmmakers to connect and talk about their films. This festival is a celebration of art, storytelling and connection. Whether you have a film submitted, or plan just plan to attend, you will leave with a new appreciation for the local talent here in Lancaster and filmmakers from around the world.
Beautiful venue and well attended and well respected event. They actually did the awards ceremony in an IMAX theater this year!
FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
No community reviews yet. If you submitted here, your experience helps others avoid award mills.
