En 1981, André ABET et la ville de Cabestany décident de créer la Première Rencontre du En 1981, sous l’impulsion d’André ABET et de la ville de Cabestany, la 1ère Rencontre du court-métrage naissait. D’année en année, grâce à la volonté de véritables passionnés, cette manifestation a su s’épanouir en séduisant un public toujours plus nombreux tout en gardant son aspect convivial. Car, outre la qualité de la programmation, ces « Rencontres » sont aussi un lieu d’échange entre le public et les réalisateurs, dans une ambiance toujours festive, aidée il est vrai par le chaleureux « verre de l’amitié » offert après chaque projection. Animation, documentaire, expérimental, fiction, clip musical et reportage d'une durée maximale de 30 minutes et sous-titré en français peuvent participer à cet événement international.
