We plan to expand in 2027 to a 2-day event; more details early 2027! *** New film category added for 2027 The Sasqwatch International Film Festival returns for its 2027 season, live in Vancouver, BC in August 2027. We bring the best in independent film and screenwriting to the big screen in the heart of Hollywood North, and we want your work in the lineup. WHAT WE PROGRAM Local and international short films, feature films, music videos, micro shorts, animation, commercials (under and over 30 seconds), documentary, and screenwriting for both short and feature scripts. WHY SUBMIT - Every submission receives a score. - Top-scoring films screen live on the big screen at The Rio Theatre. - Official selections and finalists earn laurels and award nominations. - Gold, Silver, and Bronze honours across categories, with top prizes for the best film and the best script. - Over $1200 in prizes, with new sponsors each season. - Affordable entry, including low-cost micro-short and script submissions. A note on screening: as a curated festival, we screen our highest-ranked films within the program blocks, so not every official selection screens live.   We had a wonderful experience screening The Girl Inside the Photograph at the Sasqwatch International Film Festival. From the beginning, Marc and the team were supportive, communicative, and genuinely committed to making the screening work. Our feature is 108 minutes, which is not always easy to accommodate in a festival schedule, and we really appreciated the effort they made to create space for it. The technical coordination with Alliance Française Vancouver was also excellent. Our DCP was tested in advance, the screening ran smoothly, and the presentation looked and sounded great. The theatre was nearly full, and it was incredibly special for us to finally premiere the film in Vancouver with such an engaged audience. We were also very grateful to receive Best Editing and an Honourable Mention — Feature Film. What stood out most was the sense that Sasqwatch genuinely cares about independent filmmakers and understands how much work goes into bringing a film from an idea to the big screen. Thank you to Marc, the jury, the technical team, and everyone involved for making it such a positive experience.   I’m incredibly grateful Sasqwatch recognized, “Just Like Magic,” as a Best Animation Nominee. Sasqwatch had, by far, some of the best communication I’ve witnessed during this film festival circuit. They kept us updated throughout the way. I only wish I could’ve attended in person.
