Launch Your First Film or Screenplay The Los Angeles First-Time Filmmaker Showcase helps emerging filmmakers and screenwriters develop their work, receive constructive feedback, build creative connections and discover their next professional opportunity. Selected participants join a monthly online focus group where films and screenplays are introduced to filmmakers and writers from across the Lift-Off Global Network. Projects may also be considered for Lift-Off's Filmmakers in the Spotlight programme, Film Market Representation and Season Award nominations. Participants are invited to Lift-Off's annual nomination screenings and filmmaker development activities at Pinewood Studios. The monthly showcase and focus group take place online, allowing filmmakers worldwide to participate. The showcase is presented through Lift-Off's Los Angeles network, with selected participants also invited to annual activities and nomination screenings at Pinewood Studios in the UK. Success Stories Boiling Point by Philip Barantini was picked up by Netflix, and later the BBC, via Lift-Off's Film Market Representation. Teenage Love Bomb by Mads Erichsen was distributed by California Pictures via Lift-Off's Film Market Representation. The Trade by Matt Burns was distributed to Amazon Prime by Indie Rights, Santa Monica, via Lift-Off's Film Market Representation. Ken Foster by Josh Laner was picked up by Devilworks via Lift-Off's Film Market Representation. Previous Lift-Off Season Award winners include Oscar winners Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton for The Silent Child, Brian Jordan Alvarez for You Are What I Want and The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo, Stephanie Koenig for The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo, and Charlotte Le Bon for Judith Hotel.
