Solid signals — do normal diligence
Tier B looks established enough for many filmmakers. Check fees, programming fit, and recent editions before submitting.
Top Shorts is a U.S.-based short film festival known for its strong online presence and high ratings on FilmFreeway, where it has been described as one of the best-reviewed festivals. It programs short films and screenplays across categories such as narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, music video, and web series, and it is noted for supporting emerging filmmakers through monthly and annual awards. Its significance in the festival circuit comes from its accessibility, broad genre mix, and reputation as a platform for new talent rather than as a major theatrical prestige festival.

We're already looking forward to the annual edition.

Awesome festival with great communication. Thank you to the festival team for awarding my film FaceID as the best Indie Film. If you are looking to submit to a festival for any project, definitely submit to Top Shorts. They were very good at communicating and judging was done on time. Thank you Top Shorts team, please keep doing what you do, young filmmakers like me really appreciate you.
FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
No community reviews yet. If you submitted here, your experience helps others avoid award mills.
