HYBRID FILM FESTIVAL: November 17, 2023 thru December 17, 2023 November 17-19, 2023 - In-person festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. November 20 - December 17, 2023 - Online (virtual) streaming festival. WE’RE BACK AND IN-PERSON AS WELL AS ONLINE! JOIN US FOR THE 2023 EDITION OF WATER DOCS! This festival is all about the CLIMATE CRISIS and WATER. The Water Docs Film Festival presents Canadian and International features and shorts about climate change and water, engaging discussions with filmmakers and special guests, and opportunities to take action to learn about and protect water and a liveable climate. The festival informs, educates and activates our audiences about water and water issues, including the climate crisis, because the likelihood of having enough clean, fresh water and a liveable climate is diminishing everywhere, daily and rapidly. We are motivated to act by seeing viable solutions and conversely, we are unlikely to act without a clear vision of a way forward. Our films and programs will inspire you to be part of the solution and show you that there are many positive solutions happening all around us and so many more opportunities and ways for you to take action too. So, for the love of water and a liveable climate on our beautiful planet, come join us!

We are very grateful that our art film Precious Balance Walk was selected for Water Docs Film Festival, it was our first choice when we started to submit to film festivals. Thank you deeply from our hearts!
I was honoured to be part of this important festival. The screening program was high quality.
Great communication and follow up. My film hasn’t looked better on line.
WaterDocs was an exceptional experience! Although I couldn't attend the whole festival due to unforeseeable events, I was grateful to be able to attend the last day and to receive such a warm welcome by organizers Melanie and Suzanne, and host Rick Miller who even played The Whale Guitar! (Video to be shared soon!) We deeply appreciated the help of University of Toronto student volunteers who assisted us in setting up and loading gear, and it was an honor to speak and play for the audience! I very much enjoyed the Town Hall meeting and panel, the organizations tabling outside the auditorium, and seeing the movie "The Erie Situation" as I am from Cleveland originally, and lived half my life on that wild, troubled and beautiful lake. It was a fantastic experience and I am so honored our film was selected to be a part of this eco-conscientious festival! Bravo WaterDocs! Keep up the great work!
Water Docs Film is a great film festival programming important documentaries that invoke change and enlightenment. We were honored that our documentary PLACES TO BE WILD was selected for the festival among so many excellent films.
FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
No community reviews yet. If you submitted here, your experience helps others avoid award mills.
