Overview
APEX Film Awards is a Worthing-based independent film festival and awards event run by filmmakers for filmmakers. It is notable for its tailored review-and-star-rating system for nominees, seasonal submission model, and live December screening and awards event, which position it as a supportive platform for emerging independent work rather than a large international marketplace festival. The festival showcases short films and music videos across categories including drama, comedy, animation, sci-fi, thriller, horror, experimental, documentary, and student films, and it emphasizes discovering powerful films from around the world.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
