Overview
Babylon Fest is a small, underground film festival held at The Babylon Kino in Columbia, South Carolina, and is known for its deliberately offbeat, high-energy identity. It showcases risky, independent films—often underground, indie, horror, or other unconventional shorts and features—and emphasizes audience interaction, parties, and filmmaker networking rather than polished mainstream programming. In the local and regional festival circuit, it stands out as a niche venue for low-budget and boundary-pushing work that is not yet in wide distribution.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
