Overview
The Ely Film Festival is an annual independent cinema event in Ely, Minnesota, launched in 2023 and centered at the historic Ely State Theater. It is notable for its strong community focus and for spotlighting Indigenous and Minnesotan stories alongside regional and national independent filmmaking, including documentaries, narratives, and shorts. In the local and broader indie circuit, it has quickly gained attention for its audience engagement, filmmaker Q&As, and sizable programming for a young festival.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
