Overview
NorthwestFEARFest is Edmonton’s annual genre film festival, launched in 2022 by the Global Visions Festival Society and held each October at Metro Cinema, the city’s historic independent arthouse cinema. It is notable for mixing new and retro horror, thriller, cult, sci-fi, suspense, and experimental films, with programming that includes both features and shorts and often draws audiences for classic revival screenings alongside recent genre titles. Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
