Overview
The Royale Film Festival is a free, public independent film festival held at the historic Bisbee Royale in Bisbee, Arizona. Launched in 2024, it is notable for bringing cinema back to a town that had gone without a movie theater for years, and for screening a wide mix of international and Arizona-made work on an 18-foot screen, including documentaries, narrative films, shorts, animation, music videos, and genre titles. Its significance lies in its role as a community-centered showcase for independent cinema and as a cultural event for Bisbee, with local officials describing it as an important moment for the city.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
