Overview
Rūng Film Festival is Houston’s first Pakistani film festival and an Indus Arts Council program that was launched to elevate Pakistani and Pakistani-heritage voices in cinema.[4][7][17] It showcases independent narrative, documentary, short, and genre films from around the world, with entries accepted in any language as long as a Pakistani creative is involved; its significance lies in expanding representation and creating a platform for underrepresented storytellers in Houston and beyond.[1][4][11]

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
