Overview
SModcastle HorrorFest is an annual independent horror event held at SModcastle Cinemas in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, a theater owned by filmmaker Kevin Smith. It is notable for programming a concentrated slate of indie horror work—especially shorts, creature features, dark comedy, and supernatural chills—and for spotlighting emerging filmmakers through screenings, awards, and community-focused genre celebration. It has become part of the regional horror-festival circuit as a destination for new independent horror films and audience-facing genre events.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
