Overview
The Telly Awards is a New York-based awards competition founded in 1979 that honors excellence in video and television across all screens. It is notable for its large global entry pool and for recognizing a wide range of work, including branded content, commercials, social video, documentaries, film and shorts, and animation, making it an important industry awards platform rather than a traditional film festival. Its significance in the film and media circuit comes from its broad scope, its long-standing reputation, and its role in spotlighting standout short-form and branded moving-image work from agencies, production companies, and independent creators.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
