FilmFreeway Festivals Worth Submitting

How to filter FilmFreeway listings so fees go to festivals with real audiences — not award mills with glossy submission pages.

Open the filtered shortlist

Browse festivals that already clear our FilmFreeway + Tier A/B + physical screenings filter (independent of FilmFreeway — this is a Legit Fests shortlist). Then open each dossier before you pay.

Why FilmFreeway needs a second filter

FilmFreeway hosts thousands of events. Filmmakers often confuse “listed on the platform” with “vetted by the platform.” Legit Fests scores structural legitimacy — screenings, history, accreditations, and red flags — so you can decide whether a fee belongs in your submission plan.

If you only remember one rule: the checkout page is not the research.

Five-step FilmFreeway filter

1. Paste the FilmFreeway URL into Legit Fests search

Our homepage resolves FilmFreeway links to the matching dossier when we have one. Read score, tier, and red flags before the fee page.

2. Require Tier A or B for paid reach submissions

Tier C can still be a real regional event, but treat fee spend as experimental until venue and history check out. Warning means stop and verify.

3. Confirm physical screenings (or a credible hybrid model)

Public audience evidence is one of the strongest anti-mill signals. Trophy shops rarely have a real cinema footprint.

4. Cross-check the warning list and spot-fake checklist

Absence from Warning is not a seal of approval. Run the shady/fake festival checklist on every fee above a few dollars.

5. Fit the festival to your film — then protect premiere status

Legitimacy is necessary, not sufficient. Genre, runtime, and premiere rules still decide whether the fee is worth it.

FAQ

Is FilmFreeway legit?

Yes — FilmFreeway is a real submission platform. Festivals listed there are not automatically legitimate. Treat it like a payment rail and vet each festival.

What does “worth submitting” mean on Legit Fests?

For our FilmFreeway hub: Tier A or B legitimacy score plus confirmed physical screenings in our database, with a FilmFreeway sync on file. It is a shortlist filter, not a guarantee of selection or career outcome.

Should I only submit to FilmFreeway festivals?

No. Many strong festivals use other platforms or direct forms. Use FilmFreeway when it is convenient, then score the festival the same way.

What about FilmFreeway Gold badges and high ratings?

Useful community signals, not a substitute for venue, history, and our structural score. Gold festivals can still land in Tier C or Warning.
