We were notified about being nominated one day before the event. When they notified us they didnt sent any formal invitation, didnt let us know where it was or any info. Would have loved to attend and to have brought a nice audience but the lack of communication made us miss what would have been something very special to us and our crew (who are all locals).
Thanks for selecting our film!
Winning an award at the Rosarito Itinerant Film Festival was truly meaningful, not just for the recognition, but for the spirit of the festival itself. The festival has a strong curatorial identity and a genuine commitment to filmmakers who push boundaries artistically, technically, and narratively. As someone working at the intersection of music, film, and emerging technologies, it was refreshing to be part of a festival that embraces experimentation while still honoring storytelling at its core.

Being selected by the Rosarito International Film Festival matters to me because this is a festival that looks at documentaries as thinking objects, not as products. The Empire Writes Back was made from long observation, doubt, memory and resistance to simplification. Rosarito proved to be a place where that kind of work is not only accepted, but actually seen. I was unable to attend but very happy being selected. THANKS!!!
FilmFreeway reviews are filmmaker opinions, not our score. Cross-check red flags before paying fees.
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
No community reviews yet. If you submitted here, your experience helps others avoid award mills.
