Overview
The Austin Horror Film Festival is a premier horror festival in Austin that focuses exclusively on horror rather than a broad mix of genres. It is notable for its carefully curated programming of independent horror shorts and features across sub-genres such as psychological, supernatural, slasher, monster, comedy, found footage, and grindhouse, and for its distinctive VHS-tape trophy awards. In the film festival circuit, it functions as a niche showcase for horror filmmakers and a passionate audience, helping spotlight new work within the genre.
