MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Gathering

Overview

ANOTHER CONNECTION - MEDIAWAVE Film and Music Gathering is 37 years old in 2027. We have seen over 40.000 films and hosted thousands of artists from Europe and from hidden parts of the world. Our event is a free spirit artistic and community-oriented festival. We prefer original views independent of fashion streams reflected in films as well as in music and other arts. We tend to establish real communities and connections by announcing and giving place to different actions. The venue in 2027 is again Szigliget Várudvar, which is about one and half hours of drive from the capital Budapest in the country side, under the majestic ruins of the Castle of Szigliget that stand on a cone shaped volcanic hill. The screening will be complemented by a 4 day long musical gathering and cultural festival that combines performances, gastronomy, fine arts and workshops. The date for this event will be from the 28th of April to the 1th of May 2027. How about reforming the classic way of film festivals together? Submit your film, join our community and enjoy the Gathering in the Hungary. We accept submissions until 5th of December 2026. You can send your films in short fiction, animation, documentary, as well as in our special topic for 2027. For our 2027 edition, we are introducing two special short film categories to explore the evolving landscape of modern avant-garde cinema: Experimental Film WITHOUT AI and Experimental Film WITH AI Techniques. Our objective is to highlight the artistic contrast and emerging differences between purely human-crafted works and those augmented by artificial intelligence in experimetal films. Please note that both categories are strictly open to short films only.
