Overview
The Rewilding Photo Contest is a nature photography contest established in 2021 by Rewilding Portugal. Its primary goal is to promote and protect Portuguese natural heritage through nature photography, raising community awareness about the country's ecosystems, wild fauna, and flora [rewilding-portugal.com](https://rewilding-portugal.com/rewilding-photo-contest/). While primarily a photography contest, it is associated with the Do(C)ôa Nature Film Festival, which focuses on environmental and nature-themed short films and documentaries.

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.

How scoring works
Scores are calculated from structural indicators: accreditations, physical screenings, award category count, submission frequency, and acceptance rate. Higher scores reflect more verifiable legitimacy signals.
