Overview
The Leuven International Short Film Festival (Kortfilmfestival Leuven), founded in 1995, is Belgium's premier Academy Award, BAFTA, and European Film Award-qualifying short film festival, serving as the main Belgian gateway to these global ceremonies[4][11]. It showcases over 200 short films annually across fiction, animation, documentary, and non-narrative formats, with a core mission to spotlight emerging young talent through competitive Flemish and European categories[3][4][12]. The festival is notable for its December timing in Leuven's medieval center, its distribution of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund Wildcards for student films, and its rotating thematic focuses on countries and artists[11][12].

Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
