Overview
PLEASE NOTE: We require all submissions to have English subtitles if English is not their main language. S.O.F.A Film Festival showcases local and international films relating to animals, animal welfare, conservation and the environment. For 2027 our unique festival will run over a 24 day period via our website Screening Room. We have revamped the festival and now our categories are split into two parts: 1) our wildlife/environment/conservation films 2) pets, heroes, rescue and domestic animals – this part is known as SOFA Tails - if you have submitted to SOFA Tails please DO NOT resubmit here. Please visit our website to see the incentives we offer to film-makers who screen with us and thank you for choosing to submit to S.O.F.A Film Festival.

I was honored to have my film, "Saving Jaguars and Ourselves--The Climate Crisis is Now!" selected to be in the online S.O.F.A. festival this year. The festival's communication is timely and super considerate and thoughtful of filmmakers. The festival makes participation easy for filmmakers. Great festival! Great selections of films!

Thank you to the S.O.F.A. Film Festival for selecting "The Invisible Mammal" to participate in 2025. The festival director was very communicative, shared about our film and our screening on social media, and offered additional ways to engage with audiences. I would definitely participate in this online festival again.

An excellent festival that really values independent cinema

Research
Live web research is off to control API cost. This shows cached scheduled research when available, plus analysis from our database.
Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
