Overview
The Blue Danube Film Festival is a cross-border independent film festival based in Vienna that also screens in Budapest and Bratislava, making it notable for linking multiple Danube-region capitals into a single festival circuit. It showcases independent films from around the world, with an emphasis on creativity, experimentation, and socially engaged storytelling, and presents selected works in art cinemas and cultural centers. The festival is significant as the region’s first cross-border film festival and features short films, prizes, and jury awards that help bring emerging filmmakers and new voices to a wider audience.

Hard research (cheap model + thorough prompt) runs on a cron for suspicious festivals; a biweekly job refreshes others. No live API calls from the site.
